LASAN Holiday Collection Delays
Will my trash be delayed this week?
Most holidays do not change your collection day. For most of the year, you should put your bins out on your normal day. However, for four major holidays in 2026, our Los Angeles Sanitation and Environment (LASAN) crews take a break, which means your pickup will be pushed back by one day.
2026 Holiday Delay Dates
Your collection will be delayed by one day during the weeks of these holidays:
- New Year’s Day: Thursday, January 1, 2026
- Labor Day: Monday, September 7, 2026
- Thanksgiving Day: Thursday, November 26, 2026
- Christmas Day: Friday, December 25, 2026
Note: Independence Day (July 4th) falls on a Saturday in 2026. Because our regular collection is Monday through Friday, there will be no delays for the July 4th holiday.
How the "One-Day Delay" Works
When a major holiday falls on a weekday, everyone’s service is "bumped" one day later for the rest of that week.
- If the holiday is Monday: Monday’s bins are picked up Tuesday. Tuesday’s are picked up Wednesday, and so on. Friday’s bins will be picked up on Saturday.
- If the holiday is Thursday: Your Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday pickups stay the same. Thursday’s bins are picked up Friday, and Friday’s bins are picked up Saturday.
- If the holiday is on a Weekend: There is no delay. Keep your normal schedule.

- Presidents' Day: Monday, Feb 16
- César E. Chávez' Day: Monday, Mar 30
- Memorial Day: Monday, May 25
- Juneteenth: Friday, June 19
- Independence Day: Friday, July 3 (Observed)
- Labor Day: Monday, Sept 7
- Indigenous Peoples' Day: Monday, Oct 12
- Veterans Day: Wednesday, Nov 11
- Thanksgiving Holiday: Thursday & Friday, Nov 26–27
- Christmas Day: Friday, Dec 25
