What to Know

Mobile Collection Events bring free household hazardous waste and electronic waste drop-off services to neighborhoods throughout the City of Los Angeles. 

  • Disposal is FREE for all City and County of Los Angeles residents. 
  • Mobile Collection Events are drive-thru drop-off events. Residents arriving by alternative forms of transportation without access to a vehicle will also be accommodated.
  • The address where the waste originated will be requested; however, an ID or utility bill is not required.
  • There is a limit of 15 gallons or 125 pounds of hazardous waste per visit.
  • Items must be in their original containers or clearly labeled.
  • Events may be canceled or rescheduled due to holidays, rain, severe weather, or operational conditions.

What Can I Bring?

You can bring common household hazardous waste and electronic waste items, including leftover paint, used motor oil, batteries, fluorescent light bulbs, pool chemicals, and old electronics.

We do not accept explosives, radioactive materials, or medical waste.

How to Prepare Items

To help keep yourself and our team safe, please follow the guidelines below:

  • Transport items in the trunk of your vehicle.
  • Make sure lids are tightly closed and containers are upright and secured so they do not leak. If a container is leaking, place it inside a larger plastic bucket or bin.
  • Do not mix materials together. Keep items in their original containers whenever possible, or clearly label the contents.

What to Expect

Upon arrival at a Mobile Collection Event, you can expect the following: 

  • Participants will enter the event queue. City staff will provide assistance and ask a few questions about the household hazardous waste or e-waste being dropped off, including your home address.
  • For safety purposes, participants are required to remain inside their vehicles and refrain from smoking throughout their visit. Vehicles must be turned off while in the unloading area.
  • HHW technicians will unload the materials from the vehicle after you set your parking brake.

By properly disposing of hazardous waste and e-waste, participants help protect public health and the environment.
