Extra Capacity Tags for Overflow Trash

If your bin is overflowing and the lid cannot close, our collection trucks may not be able to empty it safely, and the extra waste could be left behind.

We understand that sometimes you just have a little more to throw away... like after a big yard cleanup or a family gathering. If you have extra garbage or yard trimmings that will not fit in your bin, you can purchase Extra Capacity Tags to ensure your overflow items are collected!

(Note: If you are searching for "extra trash stickers" or "extra garbage tags" like many of our residents do, you are in the right place!) 

Items placed outside the bin without these Extra Capacity Tags will not be picked up.

Extra capacity tags must be securely attached to your overflow items. You can attach a tag to any of the following:

• A plastic bag: Must weigh 30 pounds or less.
• A tied bundle of yard trimmings or brush: Must measure no more than 4 feet in length and weigh 30 pounds or less.
• A personal (non-City-issued) 30-gallon container: Must weigh 30 pounds or less.

Using a personal container: 
If you attach an extra capacity tag to your own 30-gallon container, our crews will empty the contents into the truck and leave your container on the curb. If you want our crews to take the actual container away to the landfill, simply place a plastic bag over the container and attach the tag directly to the bag.
 

Extra capacity tags are $2.00 each and are sold in packs of 5 (for a total of $10.00 per pack). To ensure we can accommodate all City of Los Angeles residents, there is a maximum limit of 25 tags per household per calendar year. Please note that all tag sales are non-refundable.

Payment Methods: You can purchase tags in person at any of our LASAN District Offices.

• Checks or Money Orders: Make payable to “City of Los Angeles.”
• Cash: Accepted only if you have exact change.
   

Extra Capacity Tags may be purchased by visiting your closest LASAN District Office on weekdays (Monday through Friday) between 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., excluding City-observed holidays. All locations offer general and disabled parking. Please note that there are no public restrooms available at these facilities.
