- Keep the area in front of your home, apartment or business clean by picking up and disposing of trash and debris in the gutter and use a broom when cleaning your sidewalks or driveways. Do not use water to hose off a surface.
- Store household cleaners and chemicals in water-proof containers and dispose of unwanted chemicals safely at a City of Los Angeles SAFE Center.
- Maintain your car and/or RV to reduce the leakage of oil, and other fluids and dispose of your used oil, oil filters, old batteries and fluids at a City of Los Angeles SAFE Center.
- Plant a California-friendly garden using native plants, use water wisely while irrigating your garden, consider planting an organic garden, learn how to compost at a City of Los Angeles Sanitation & Environment workshop.
- Pick up after your pet every time (LAMC Sec. 53.49) and dispose of the waste in your City-issued black bin. The City of Los Angeles provides free dog waste bag canisters for City residents.
