The City operates an on-call service to collect your bulky items like couches and other furniture, mattresses, doors, carpet, toilets, electrical waste, and appliances. These bulky items are collected, transferred, recycled, and/or disposed of safely. Sufficient revenues are needed to operate and maintain a safe, reliable, and effective Multi-Family Bulky Item collection program, and to protect public health, the environment, and LA’s communities by reducing blight.

Effective November 2025, Multi-Family Bulky Item Fee  rates will increase for those ratepayers who receive their waste hauling service from a recycLA Franchise Hauler and do not pay trash fees directly to LA Sanitation. An ordinance to enact an adjustment to the Multi-Family Bulky Item Fee was approved by Los Angeles City Council in October of 2025. Implemented November 2025, ratepayers may expect to see the adjusted fees on their upcoming Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) bills. The rate adjustment was necessary for LASAN to continue to offer unlimited, on-demand pickup for bulky items which need to be discarded and are not appropriate to be placed in trash containers.

You can view the Council File record accessible here for additional details. Additional information is also provided in the downloads section at the bottom of this page.
