Who is my recycLA service provider?
The City of Los Angeles is divided into distinct recycLA service zones. We partner with trusted, permitted collection companies assigned to specific neighborhoods, including Athens Services, CalMet Services, NASA Services, Republic Services, Universal Waste Systems (UWS), and Waste Management. You can easily find your assigned hauler by checking our recycLA Service Zone Map or by looking at the top of your latest service bill.
What is a rate assessment and what is right-sizing?
A "rate assessment" is a free visit where your recycLA Service Provider evaluates your property's waste to ensure you have the most efficient setup. During the visit, they will look at how much trash, recycling, and organics you typically generate and how quickly you usually fill your bins. Based on what they see, they will help you with "right-sizing." This simply means adjusting the size of your bins, the number of bins, or how often they are picked up so the services perfectly match your needs.

What is the recycLA Stars Program?
We love to celebrate our community's success! The recycLA Stars program recognizes local businesses and institutions that meet high environmental standards through great recycling, reuse, and food rescue efforts. Becoming a certified Green Business or being nominated as a recycLA Star is a fantastic way to show your neighborhood you care and bring more eco-conscious customers to your door.

Do you offer waivers for those who don't need a green bin?
If you believe your business or property qualifies, you may submit a waiver request through LASAN. The City will evaluate your request and notify you of the determination.

Commercial Business
According to Cal. Code Regs. Tit. 14, § 18982 - Definitions, section (a)(6):
(6) "Commercial business" means a firm, partnership, proprietorship, joint-stock company, corporation, or association, whether for-profit or nonprofit, strip mall, industrial facility, or a multifamily residential dwelling.
(A) A multifamily residential dwelling that consists of fewer than five units is not a commercial business for the purposes of this chapter.
Blue Container for Limited Organic Waste
According to Cal. Code Regs. Tit. 14, § 18984.1 - Three-Container Organic Waste Collection Services, section (a)(2):
(2) The blue container shall be provided for the collection of non-organic recyclables only but may include the following types of organic wastes: paper products, printing and writing paper, wood and dry lumber and textiles.
