Governance
The Board of Public Works governs the Department of Public Works and oversees the Bureaus of Sanitation, Street Services, Street Lighting, Engineering, and Contract Administration.
As the lead agency for the City’s environmental programs and initiatives, LA Sanitation (LASAN) protects public health and the environment through the administration and management of five main program areas: Clean Water (wastewater), Solid Resources (solid waste management), Watershed Protection (stormwater), Cleanliness (livability), and Sustainability. Driven by our daily commitment to achieving Zero Waste, Zero Wasted Water and a passion for environmental justice, our executive leadership team and dedicated divisions work hard every single day to serve you.
On this page, you can get to know our executive team and explore the specialized divisions that keep our city running smoothly. To save you time and prevent information fatigue, we have skipped the confusing government organizational charts and arranged our teams by the daily tasks they perform.
