The City of Los Angeles will hold its Eighth Annual Beautification Conference at Griffith Park on Saturday, September 19. The annual conference brings together City agencies, nonprofit agencies, and community groups that share the vision of a clean, green Los Angeles.
Organized by the Board of Public Works and the Office of Community Beautification in partnership with the volunteer-run Keep Los Angeles Beautiful, the event will host interactive, hands-on workshops, a panel discussion, and a resource fair with more than 30 exhibitors. The annual beautification conference is a bridge between the public and public works, creating space for residents to have the tools for beautifying their communities.
This year, attendees will have the chance to hear from Council District 4, welcomed by the Interim Director of the Office of Community Beautification, Gerry Valido, engage in conversation about keeping public spaces clean, and hear from Board of Public Works President Steve Kang.
“The Beautification Conference brings City government and our communities together around a shared goal of making Los Angeles cleaner, greener, and more beautiful,” said Board of Public Works President Steve Kang. “It connects residents who care deeply about their neighborhoods with the resources and partnerships to make a difference. I invite Angelenos from across the City to join us at Griffith Park and make a lasting difference in neighborhoods across Los Angeles.”
The conference celebrates volunteer-run, community-based efforts to clean up the City, as well as the Department of Public Works’ investments in and upkeep of local infrastructure. Beautification involves all the systems that maintain the City’s infrastructure, touching the work of Los Angeles Sanitation and Environment, the Bureau of Street Lighting, the Bureau of Street Services, the Bureau of Engineering, the Bureau of Contract Administration, and the Office of Community Beautification.
